The experience of captaining the national side sparked an intense interest in leadership and the operation of effective teams. Often invited to speak to corporate audiences, Katy is able to draw upon a range of leadership challenges and the success of the 2014 world cup campaign. Always keen to extend her understanding, Katy is also pursuing post graduate studies in Leadership and Management at Northumbria University. Katy has currently worked with companies including Ernst and Young, Macfarlanes LLP, EBLEX, PHS and Durham County Council.
Katy gained a degree in Sport from Sunderland University in 2007, going on to work with families and young people in deprived areas of the community for the SAFC Foundation (a charity arm of the Sunderland Football club). Following the World Cup in 2010, Katy qualified as a primary school teacher and was employed as a reception and year one teacher at Bexhill Academy, Sunderland.
